Yesterday was a long but enjoyable day, that took us to two of the places on the east coast where we had been on summer mission years ago – Port Seton and North Berwick. While much about these towns was largely unchanged in 30 years, two of the churches we had used for dorm and dining room had been completely renovated into modern multi-purpose facilities. It was amazing to see how the old had been seamlessly incorporated into the new, in a way that is symbolic, I believe of how the life of the church should be – honoring of past legacy, architecture and tradition, but willing to explore new paradigms, perspective and ways to witness.
Many photographs were taken of well-loved and nostalgic vistas, and we enjoyed the drive through the Borders, back to Motherwell, via Biggar.
